Elements - June 2009 Issue Now In Press

The June 2009 issue of Elements Magazine is in press. Distribution to subscribers should begin the week of July 6.

The theme for this issue is Gems and contains seven feature articles:

  • Gem Formation, Production, and Exploration: Why Gem Deposits Are Rare and What Is Being Done to Find Them
  • The Geochemistry of Gems and Its Relevance to Gemology: Different Traces, Different Prices

  • Seeking Low-Cost Perfection: Synthetic Gems
  • Laboratory-Treated Gemstones
  • Pearls and Corals: "Trendy Biomineralizations"

The guest editors for this issue are Emmanuel Fritsch and Benjamin Rondeau.

Elements Magazine is a bi-monthly publication of 14 mineralogical, geochemical and petrology societies including the Geochemical Society. Every 72-page issue explores a theme of broad and current interest in the mineral sciences. Elements also presents regular features like a calendar of events, short course announcements, awards, conference reports, policy news, as well as news of the Societies.
