Each year the Geochemical Society sponsors sessions at the annual GSA meeting. It is the job of the program committee to solicit proposed sessions for this meeting and to review the proposals beforehand. We would like to increase the Geochemical Society's profile at future GSA meetings and in trying to determine how best to accomplish this we put together a survey that was distributed to members on 3 December. When the survey closed on 10 December, 376 of 2998 solicited members had completed the survey. Most of the members who responded have not been to a GSA meeting in the past 5 years and only about 4% of those have been to all of the meetings. Many of the responders indicated they would be willing to propose and chair a session for the upcoming Denver meeting, and a number indicated they would be willing to chair but not propose.
We would like to encourage everyone who responded that they'd be willing to propose a session to do so. The deadline to submit a proposal for GSA-Denver is 12 January 2010.
Thank you to those who participated. With the information we've collected, we look forward to increasing the quantity and quality of geochemistry at the GSA-Denver meeting this fall.
