The Goldschmidt Travel Grant program annually provides funding to delegates attending the Goldschmidt Conference. The amount and conditions of funding vary from year to year so please read the terms and conditions below, even if you have applied and received funding in the past. Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Goldschmidt2010 Travel Grant Program is to provide financial support to qualified students who are presenting their research at the Goldschmidt2010 conference in Knoxville, TN, USA.

Availability and Amount of Support
The program anticipates student awards of $1000 (US), with final number of awards dependent upon funding.
Program Supporters and Distribution Restrictions
Support for Goldschmidt2010 travel grants are provided by:
The Geochemical Society Fund will be distributed based upon merit to student delegates.
The European Association for Geochemistry Fund will be distributed based upon merit to student delegates enrolled in an institution in either Europe or a low-economy country.
The Geochemical Society of Japan Fund will be distributed based upon merit to student delegates.
The National Science Foundation Support is pending as of 5 Feb 2010. If support is provided, funds will be distributed based upon merit to graduate students enrolled in a U.S. institution.
The United States Department of Energy Support is pending as of 5 Feb 2010. If support is provided, funds will be distributed based upon merit to graduate students enrolled in a U.S. institution.
Application Process
The application form requires the applicant to upload three one-page .pdf files which will be combined with the application form and the faculty advisor's recommendation letter (if submitted) into a single .pdf file. This file is what the review committee will use in determining merit. Neither the Travel Grant Program administrators nor the Goldschmidt2010 Conference organizers shall be held responsible if an application is incorrectly submitted.
Determination of Merit
A review committee shall examine each application and assign a ranking to the application. The criteria examined are the applicants:
- Application form, including financial need figures
- Curriculum vitae
- Abstract
- Brief essay on broader impact and significance of research
- Advisor's Letter of Recommendation (optional) - upon completion of the application, a student's advisor will immediately receive an email with a recommendation request and a link to the Advisor's Recommendation Letter Form. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS OR APPLICATIONS WITH MORE THAN ONE PAGE PER SECTION WILL BE REJECTED.
Distribution of Funds
Awardees will be issued a registration code which they may apply against their registration fee, including optional extras.
The balance of an award will be available for pickup at set times and locations during the Conference. FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED AS A CHECK IN US DOLLARS.
Post Conference Survey
Awardees will be required to participate in a post conference survey that rates their experience with the program and the conference and that seeks ways to improve both in future years.
