Applications from students based in the United States are being managed by the Geochemical Society on behalf of all relevant funding bodies (NSF, GS, GS member donations) and further guidance is provided below.
Applications from other students, and from delegates from low income countries should be made via the Goldschmidt2013 website. These delegates should not use the form on the Geochemical Society's website.
The closing date for grant applications shall be the same as the abstract deadline (April 12th).
Students applying through the Geochemical Society-managed program will be considered for a grant if studying for a BSc, MSc or PhD. Grants awarded through the Geochemical Society will take the form of a check in U.S. dollars and will be issued at the conference.
Before applying, applicants should have already submitted an abstract to the conference. It is not possible to apply for a grant without an abstract.
All grant applications must be made using the form on the website. Email applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The grant application form will ask for
*Please name the pdf files as follows: Abstract number, then either -cv.pdf, -abstract.pdf or -essay.pdf. For example: an applicant with abstract number "4321" would name the files 4321-cv.pdf, 4321-abstract.pdf, and 4321-essay.pdf.
Grant applications will only be accepted once the supporting letter is received by the Geochemical Society. The grant applicant and author of the supporting letter will be sent an automatic email once the supporting letter has been received. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all information is received by the conference before the final deadline of April 12th.
Grant applicants will be notified by email once all applications have been reviewed by the committee.
Grant recipients will be required to fill out a brief online survey of their conference experience shortly after the conclusion of the conference.
When you submit your application it will be assumed that you grant permission for the Geochemical Society to hold your data and pass it to the grant application review team or their nominated agents.
