2012 AAAS Liaison

The American Association for the Advancement of Science is the world's largest general scientific society. The AAAS Liaison keeps the Geochemical Society and its members updated on AAAS news and activities.

Duties of the AAAS Liaison include:

• Attend the AAAS annual meeting, specifically the business meetings of the chemistry and geology/geography sections.
• Organize special sessions at the AAAS annual meeting.
• Submit items of interest from the AAAS annual meeting to the Business Manager for potential inclusion in Geochemical News or Elements.
• Forward items of interest from the AAAS mailing list to the Business Manager for potential inclusion in Geochemical News or Elements.

The position does not include a budget or a stipend so the liaison should already have an annual AAAS Membership and plan on attending the annual AAAS meeting.
