Mattie Burris

GS

Mattie Burris is the Program Manager of the Geochemical Society. She is mainly responsible for managing the society's members, which includes curating information for a weekly e-newsletter, daily communication with members, assisting with the society's yearly Goldschmidt Conference, and running various social media platforms. Since joining the GS in 2019, Mattie has supported the society's effort to increase participation of under-represented communities through programs such as the Virtual Mentorship Program.

Previously, Mattie was a researcher in a behavioral neuroscience laboratory at the University of Virginia, working closely with the Department of Defense and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. In her second year, she was recruited to study African Elephants in South Africa to further research for the United States military and the South African Government. She was responsible for data management and collection, animal training programs, and analyzing behavioral and statistical data.

Kevin Johnson

GS

Kevin Johnson is the Executive Director of the Geochemical Society. He is responsible for managing the society's programs, including the Goldschmidt Conference and various publications. Since joining the GS in 2015, he has supported the board's efforts to increase the diversity and reach of the society's initiatives. The GS has launched new outreach programs, endowed awards, and improved membership systems under his leadership.

Previously, Kevin was the Director of Education and Research for the Association of Government Accountants and a program manager with the National Association of State Treasurers. He also worked as a budget analyst with the U.S. Department of Justice in the Presidential Management Fellows program.

Kevin earned his Bachelor's in political science and economics from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. He has held the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives since 2018.

David Milby

GS

David came to the Geochemical Society in November 2023 to provide support to the staff as a project specialist. Previously, he developed creative and effective software and financial management solutions for state government unclaimed property programs as a customer success manager for Avenu Insights & Analytics.

Prior to his work in the private sector, David successfully led a wide range of operations at state and national levels serving in positions of progressive executive responsibility for nonprofit organizations. For 18 years, he was the director of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators and is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

David received his education at the University of Mississippi and Morehead State University where he majored in public relations. He holds several executive management certifications.
